We spend so much time trying to sort and fix and try and hit all our tick boxes to feel the day has been a success that our focus becomes so much about achieving that we fail to notice what is happening around us.
I have done this over and over and over again, only to feel the opposite of fulfilment and
achievement.
Finding balance in life is something that being within all the elements of the surroundings at Origin has now become my one goal to achieve.
Now I love getting stuck into weeding, planting, harvesting – getting stuck into what ever needs done but I have realised that these tasks can sometimes lead to doing out of a sense of duty, eyes focused down with the blinkers on.
Taking a step back and lifting up my eyes to actually take in all that is happening around me has become a bit of a ‘wow’ factor watching and listening to the sounds and events of nature.
Bees buzzing around, tirelessly collecting the pollen and transporting it to their next flower, the hive of activity around the wildlife ponds, the growth in each vegetable and shrub.
Nature has that amazing balance of simply life! All elements working together not against. the cycle of life knowing when to take a breather, then go again refreshed and energised for the
next stage. I love noticing how flowers open up their petals in the morning and close up again for a well earned rest in the evening.
The chickens, foraging for tasty nibbles through the grass and soil, yet also being ok with finding shelter under a tree or bush and taking a nap.
Origin is where I have learned alongside others to take a leaf out of nature’s book. Work is
good, work is necessary and when we all get stuck in together those boxes get ticked and sometimes a few extra ticks completed too.
Resting together becomes more meaningful as work has been that common bond between us.
Our lunchtimes become an extension of the conversations already begun and I have witnessed so many times a community of people rallying around each other in the tough times and celebrating with the good – not to mention birthdays and cake! There’s always enough for
everyone.
The responsibility of caring and protecting the Origin Space has brought a sense of ownership to the team as we learn and develop together in creating a space to simply be when we need it.
To share this space with nature is very special and one we treasure and love, whether working or resting, finding balance within that which is too amazing to go unnoticed for too long.
